I thought I was using a good comb. Not! Turns out having a special detangling comb and a brush that was recommended by a salesperson at Sally Beauty Supply make all the difference. SO much easier to get the knots out. And with much less breakage. Wish I’d figured this out sooner. Honestly, I was skeptical about any brush working in SG’s hair, but I figured for $4 it was worth trying and I’m glad I did. So if you’re interested, the brush is a Brush Strokes Wet ‘N Dry, and the comb is a Krest detangler.
Would post a pic of the box braids I did tonight, but the girl was not cooperating.

Lots of great ideas!
I continue to slack on the cornrowing (is that even a word?) and just end up doing simple braids right before bedtime. It seems quicker, but really it either means daily combing out & re-braiding, or major risk of matting. Sigh. I really do have trouble keeping up with Sassy Girl’s hair. Honestly, I just can’t wait until she’s old enough to shower and comb it herself! Maybe it’s a fantasy, but I just think that will make managing her hair so much easier. I do truly love SG’s glorious hair, but this white mama will never quite get over the shock of how much work it is!
